Why Not Dream Big? Les Does.

No offense to Yao. Really good player, great guy, but opportunities like this are few and far between. KG for Yao and Juwan gets us started. KG has 4 of his prime years left to go along with maybe 4 more good years for McGrady. Now once you have him in place, everyone in Houston starts to hard sell Rashard on taking the mid-class exception hometown discount to win rings. He has to be tired of losing, and his dream must include winning championships for H-Town. This is Houston's version of up-tempo to take on the Phoenix, Dallas and Golden States of the NBA, and this team could play some good defense.

Before all of you guys say that big deals like this rarely happen. Consider this, Les Alexander has probably brought in more quote unquote superstars to the Rockets than any other owner during his tenure. Clyde, Charles, Scottie, Steve Francis (made the trade to get him), T-Mac. He loves the big splash. The only problems with this proposal are 1.) Les wants the Chinese market and 2.) Rashard wants Max dollars.

"Everyone in Houston" is losing sleep worrying about mid-class exception hometown discounts.

While your at it, throw in D Wade and Lebron.

Why does Houston want to emulate Phoenix, Dallas and Golden State? What have they won (except Golden State in 1975!)??

If Rashard is tired of losing, why doesn't he try winning? Truly great players win wherever they go.

Yao's not going to get worse or shorter. Send the Tracy McGaggy playoff fourth quarter fold show someplace else.

# 1 I did not say Rashard was a great player capable of putting a team on his back but he is a really good player; # 2 If you did not see a drop off in Yao Ming's playoff output compared to his regular season output, then don't open your mouth and start claiming to know what you are talking about; # 3 McGrady did disappoint me by not continuing to take it to the hole late in the 4th but his numbers were at least as good good as his regular season number and probably higher in the assist total; # 4 I will take my chances with a 60 freakin win team in the playoffs (I can't help it if Phoenix and Dallas have players who like to gag with the game on the line. I am not too worried about a KG, McGrady, Rashard led team come playoff time; If you are, then you should seek professional help.

Yao Stats Comparison

Tracy McGaggy can go to Seattle and have a fadeaway jumper shooting contest with Rasoft Lewis. They can take perennial runnerup Rick Adelman with them...

Are you trying to make my argument for me? Assists down, turnovers up, and you conveniently left off the most glaring stat of them all FG%; check yourself

Yes, Yao was down 1 assist a game, that was the difference. McGaggy's assists JUMPED from 6.5 in the reg. season to 7.3 in the playoffs WOW. McGaggy's FG% was .431 in the reg. season and .394 (with a 25.0 3 pt. FG%) in the playoffs) Let's give him another 10 years to get out of the first round.

hey anonymous, this will be my last post on this subject. I believe you are intentionally trying to get me fired up because your argument holds no water. OK, one last time. Yao shot 51% from the field in the regular season and 44% in the playoffs. He averaged 3.48 TO's/game in reg. season and 4.7 in the playoffs. He went from 2 assists a game to one. If you were actually watching these games, then I would not need to give you these stats because it was so damn obvious. He shot poorly for a big man in crunch time. He forced shots and didn't think to pass. And he held onto the ball too long or lowered and had 1.3 more turnovers per game when it mattered most. The whole idea behind my post was to get away from too much of a reliance with either one of these two guys. I would much rather depend on Garnett than MCGaggy, er McGrady, er Tracy, er T-Mac (whichever one that shows up) or Ming.

Who's your up tempo point guard on your freakin 60 win team?

...now I have to worry about "D" getting fired up AND mid-class exception hometown discounts.

Good question about the point. Let me re-phrase the whole "up tempo" comment. We need finishers on the break. Rafer is not one of them. Kirk Snyder may be the best finisher on the team outside of Tracy. This is why I would not be surprised if a somewhat radical shake-up of the lineup goes down this offseason. Van Gundy coached to their strengths. Adelman cannot get out on the floor and help Luther with his layups.
